Competition

I was asked yesterday, ” Why does my dog show badly in big competition”

My suggestion was that your emotion passes down the lead, if you are nervous or really competitive it effects your dogs performance.

I suggested the handler worked on her emotion and see how it effects the dogs performance.

If it is not fun for the dog why would they perform well!!!!

Water games

My dogs have had fun playing today, retrieve named toys out of paddling pool.

Keeps them cool and is loads of fun.

Also started teaching Plop, this is drop the ball in the water bucket so it goes PLOP.

Nagging

If you constantly nag your dog it will switch off.

Be precise in your instruction, and give your dog chance to respond.

Constant repetition and getting upset with your dog is not helpful.

Even if it’s hard be patient.

How much does what you name your dog effect what they become?

If a dog is called Ripper, is it a biter?

If a dog is called cuddles is it cuddly?

Calm down

Posted by:

If you get excitable or frustrated with your dog it will make the problem worse.

Try to stay calm.

Reward good behaviour and do not tell your dog off when naughty.

Get a good behaviourist to help you out, check them out and ask about methodology.
